Community Reading of the Declaration of Independence – July 8, 2026

Join us in commemorating the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence with a nationwide coordinated reading on July 8, 2026. Communities across the country will gather to honor the historic first public reading of the Declaration in 1776 by sharing the document aloud together.

This initiative, part of the broader America250 observance, invites libraries, schools, civic groups, and individuals to take part in a collective moment of reflection on the ideals, language, and history that shaped the United States. Readings will take place across time zones so participants can join in at the same coordinated moment nationwide.
