Not everyone can come to the library, so we bring the library to the community. Through school visits, storytimes at preschools, Little Free Libraries, and visiting senior living facilities, we strive to make the library accessible to everyone. If you’re interested in any of the programs below, or have a suggestion for other outreach programs, please contact The Dalles Library.
Little Free Libraries
Card Description: Find a great book to read in your own neighborhood with our Little Free Libraries. Leave a book, take a book, or both!
Looking for some variety in your classroom? Let our staff do a STEAM activity or story time with your class. We can also arrange library card signups and expungement of old fines for your students.
Preschool and Headstart
Card Description: Let us do a story time with your class. We’ll sing together, read interactive stories, and even provide some additional activities around our storytime theme.
Senior Living Facilities
It’s not easy for seniors living in facilities to get to the library so we bring the library to them. We bring books and other materials weekly.
The library values our community and we strive to participate in community events when possible. From handing out books and driving in parades, to doing demonstrations of our technology we are glad to be part of Wasco County.
We strive to provide materials and programming to all of our community whenever possible. We provide books and programming to teens currently in NORCOR.
