Each year older individuals lose approximately $2.9 billion to fraud. Sadly, it's suspected that number is drastically underestimated because only 1 in 44 seniors report financial abuse. To help protect seniors and raise awareness, First Interstate Bank is joining the fight by participating in the American Bankers Association Foundation Safe Banking for Seniors campaign.
Safe Banking for Seniors is a national campaign, made up of bank volunteers, that work to educate older consumers and their financial caregivers about the risks of fraud, financial abuse, and how to protect themselves and their loved ones.
Topics range from learning about scams and identity theft, to choosing a responsible financial caregiver and understanding responsibilities as a financial caregiver.
