BOOKMOBILE HISTORY:
After a long wait, the library district received their Mercedes-Benz bookmobile at the end of October 2024 and started services in November 2024. Check out this article from the Columbia Gorge News! Our hope was to bring library services to more rural and underserved areas in Wasco County. We carry library materials for all tastes and ages and are ADA accessible, too.
You may see our bookmobile as we visit preschools or senior living facilities, but we are also open to the public. Between the date it hit the road through September 2025, we’ve made 164 open bookmobile stops. We also attended lots of special events: The Dalles Cherry Festival, Maupin Daze, Pride March and Info Fair, Shaniko Days, the Dufur Threshing Bee, and the Wasco County Fair. We also appear at smaller functions like school family fun nights and the South Wasco Farmers’ Market. If you’re interested in having the bookmobile come to your event, please reach out!
